Sun, Sand and Sustainable Fashion

It's July already!  How's summer treating you?  What have been your biggest wardrobe champions this season?

We've loved seeing your photos of Gold is a Neutral bags out and about, around the world!  Our fave model and all-around wonderwoman Tash recently took her Dhaniben clutch to a wedding and we love how she styled her outfit.  I often think of the muted, almost denim-y Dhaniben fabric lending itself well to a low-key, casual look but seeing it paired with this fabulous tiered pink dress and heels highlights how brilliantly versatile these generously sized clutches are.  Apparently you can fit five phones and a fancy camera inside one too!

To celebrate this versatility, we've put together some summer looks that show off our bags alongside pieces from our favourite sustainable brands, based around five different seasonal events that you may have in your calendar.

Think of them as mood boards, as opposed to shopping lists.  I love to dream up these looks, but it's important to remember the 'buyerarchy of needs' and all the ways you can put together fresh outfits without thinking you need to splash out a lot of money.  Shop your own wardrobe!  Put unexpected things together, make some alterations.  Swap with or borrow from friends.  Buy second hand!  Did you know Oxfam has a searchable online shop?  You can give a whole new life to garments that are still in great condition.  Don't even talk to me about my passion for buying secondhand clothes on eBay.  The postman definitely knows when I'm in town!

And when you do decide to invest in something new?  Buy less, and buy better.  Bring home something you'll love for 30 wears and beyond.

Wedding belle

Inspired by the outfit Tash rocked just a few weeks ago, we love how the Dhaniben looks with this elegant pink dress and light, neutral accessories for a summery wedding.  Isn't it a great idea to be able to rent hats and fascinators too?

Mediterranean mezze

Never.  Too.  Much.  Colour.  Am I right?!  I'm seeing sunkissed skin, bougainvillea, house wine, old wooden tables, and not a care in the world.  Pretty sure there's halloumi cheese involved too.  Embrace a tropical palette and give the sun something to smile at.

Festivals, flags and flowers

Ah, the British music festival, where you could just as likely find yourself wading through fields of gloopy mud as you could be baking under the sun.  Shorter hemlines leave nothing to trail along the ground, while these super lightweight 'barefoot' shoes can be rolled up and squeezed in your bag if the wellies need to take over.
